Mariana Saavedra-Espinosa

Mariana Saavedra-Espinosa is a socio-cultural anthropologist, writer, and consultant whose work focuses on the cultural and social dimensions of economic activity.  She holds a B.A. in philosophy from Macalester College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in anthropology from Cornell University. Trained as an economic anthropologist, her research and teaching expertise includes social studies of business and finance, kinship studies, global commodity chains, and cultures of expertise and governance. She is currently writing a book that explores how different conceptions of work come to give shape to the way we organize our households, businesses, and societies.
